A school with a difference
We believe in hands-on learning and community engagement to protect and celebrate our natural environment. Discover how you can get involved...
School Workshops
Our workshops offer a unique opportunity for all ages to learn about river ecosystems, local wildlife, and environmental conservation through engaging activities and expert-led sessions - both in school, and by the river.
We have a range of workshops available to book, and would be excited to customise or create learning opportunities to suit your curriculum needs.
Kids' clubs
New Mills River School is proud of its existing partnerships with local groups and organisations such as New Mills Beavers and the Rock Mill Centre. We will soon be launching our own after-school river clubs and opportunities for pre-school and home-education families - watch this space!
Community river events
From holiday events at Rock Mill Centre, to balsam bashes and community litter-picks, find out how you can get involved in local actions on and around the Rivers Goyt and Sett.

"Our session with New Mills River School was amazing, the children learned about creatures living on the river bed and names of creatures we found, and are really keen to keep looking out for the creatures they found. Amy explained different types of larvae and we found leeches too. It was an incredible evening. Thanks to Amy for giving her time for us."
